Welcome to the Chadwick Beach Island Bridge Local Concept Development Study

Ocean County in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) are conducting a Local Concept Development (LCD) study to determine appropriate improvements to the Chadwick Beach Island Bridge. The goals of the study are to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge and increase safety for all modes of transportation.

The Chadwick Beach Island Bridge is an all timber bridge that was constructed in the 1950s. Due to its age, many of the load bearing piles and their cross bracing have severe timber rot and section loss. The bridge’s width and sidewalk do not meet today’s design standards.

Community involvement is an important part of the LCD Study phase, and we encourage the community and general public to participate and provide input during the study.

Community involvement is a vital part of the project. We encourage you to follow and provide input on improvements to the bridge as an important transportation link for the local communities and the region. Get Involved
